Stained Glass Windows |
The stainded glass windows of the First Presbyterian Church, Minot, North Dakota, were designed by the Mr. Eugene Marggraff, and made by the universal Studios of Winona, Minnesota, and were installed in May of 1957, previous to the church dedication on June 9, 1957.
The Sanctuary window, 32 feet by 24 feet depicts the inviting Christ, "Come Unto Me." He is standing on the road of salvation, encircled by the universe, signifying His universal quality, with the cross behind. In the upper left corner is the Chi Rho, signifying His Resurrection. On His robe in the vicinity of the heart is the Alpha and the Omega, the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, signifying that in the beginning God loved, and that when all else passes away, love remains.
The six Chapel windows represent the essential aspcts of Christ's life:
His birth in the Star of Bethlehem;
the Carpenter of Nazareth in the working tools;
His Baptism in the desceending dove;
the Lords Supper in the chalice;
His Crucifixion in the cross;
and His Resurrection in the Chi Rho rising from the empty tomb.
