Dr. Bob Edwards Jr

Dr. Bob Edwards is a native of the south. He came to Minot, North Dakota to direct the ministry of the Samaritan Counseling Center/Trinity Mental Health. He served as the director for seven years. He is currently the Senior Pastor at First Presbyterian Church. He has served in the military, has been a corporate vice president for marketing, established many Christ based therapy programs, served as a psychiatric chaplain and private therapist, and is a proud survivor of fourteen North Dakota winters. He was named Healthcare Provider of the Year, Region II North Dakota in 1998 and was received into the Who's Who for Public Speaking. He is a devoted pet lover, a singer, author, lecturer, humorist, radio talk show host, and the proud father of five precious children, most recently a set of twins who are seven years old. He has just authored his first book titled Living up in a down World. Dr. Edwards holds a doctorate in psychology and counseling, is a certified suicide specialist, state licensed therapist, and is a nationally certified marriage and family therapist. My Name is Steve Oster, and I am the Director of Youth and Children's Ministries. I have been employed by First Presbyterian Church since 2003 and have been a member of this church since 1997. I am blessed with an amazing family who loves the Lord and serves Him every day.  I love being able to watch children and teens being set free in Christ.

I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland in 2003.  I’m currently in the final stages of my Masters of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University.  I have finished all required course work for this degree and am currently in my internship phase.  In this phase, I am required to provide counseling services while under supervision. My supervision is being provided by Dr. Bob Edwards, Ed.D, M.DIV who is a Licensed Counselor.
 
In addition to my educational background I am also a member of the American Christian Counseling Association and the American Counseling Association, both of which are highly regarded professional counseling organizations.
